What’s a medication refresher about?
Under the DHHS Tasmania Medication Management Framework for both the Disability and Aged Care Sectors, workers are required to undertake a Medication Refresher every 3 years after they have achieved the unit HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication. This is to ensure the ongoing safety of people in the community.
In addition, the Framework recommends that support staff have an Annual internal assessment of competence undertaken by a suitably qualified person in the organisation.
Online Refresher and Annual Refresher
We offer different modes of delivery for the refresher: Online and Workshop. These different modes of delivery are provided to best cater to the learning needs of all students.
The online medication refresher (OMR) content is exactly the same as what we use as the theory component for the Annual Medication Refresher (AMR). AMR is conducted annually as the course title suggests. It’s selected by organisations who want their staff externally assessed every year.
All of these courses are non-accredited but enable staff to continue to administer medication.
